Current state of parking guidance

As cities develop, “parking difficulty plus vehicle-finding difficulty” has become a common problem in large urban car parks. Rising vehicle numbers improve mobility but 

place heavy pressure on roads and traffic management. In shopping malls and other large car parks, drivers may not know where a vacant space is. After shopping, 

they may also lose their bearings because the car park is large, the surroundings and signs look similar, and directions are difficult to distinguish.

The video parking-guidance and reverse vehicle-finding system is designed to help drivers find a space quickly, find their vehicle when returning and manage the car park through one integrated platform.

1. An outdoor guidance display shows available spaces so drivers can avoid entering a full car park.

2. Drivers select a parking area using the arrows and available-space counts on indoor guidance displays.

3. Indicator colours above each space show exactly where vacant spaces are located.

4. Vehicle-finding terminals are installed at stairs, lifts and main pedestrian entrances and exits; Bluetooth positioning tags are deployed throughout the car park.

5. Entering a plate number at a terminal or on a phone locates the vehicle. The mobile interface provides real-time navigation to the space, exit, lift, restroom and other public facilities.

6. The terminal and mobile system select the best route based on the user's position.

7. The system improves information management and counts vehicle flow and utilisation for the operator.

8. Users can switch between pedestrian and vehicle navigation.



Design Principles



System Overview


The video parking guidance and reverse vehicle-finding system installs video parking space detectors in front of the parking spaces to 

capture real-time images. The detectors transmit the captured images to video area controllers for parking-space status processing and license plate recognition.

 The video area controllers then send the status information to the system management platform for processing and unified storage in the video central controller.


The system management platform processes all parking-space status data and sends available-space information for each area to the parking guidance displays, 

thereby providing real-time parking guidance.


When drivers return to collect their vehicles, they can enter the license plate number on a vehicle-finding query terminal installed at a pedestrian entrance or elevator lobby.

 The terminal retrieves data from the server database in real time and displays the current parking-facility map, marking both the driver's current location and the vehicle's parking location. 

Based on the overall route layout, the system automatically generates the optimal route to the vehicle and guides the driver to it quickly.


Bluetooth positioning tags can also be deployed throughout the parking facility to locate the driver in real time. After entering the license plate number in the mini program, 

the driver can locate the parking space and generate a dynamic route from the current location to the vehicle. The mini program provides real-time navigation to the

 parking space and allows the driver to select the nearest parking-facility entrance for driving navigation when leaving, making vehicle retrieval convenient and efficient.
